Ginger lily is also known as “butterfly lily” due to the butterfly shape of its flower which has large petals and long stamens. The plant originates from Asia and is now found in many intertropical regions. It is grown as an ornamental plant and its white flowers are also popular for their strong, jasmine-like fragrance. It is the national flower of Cuba where it is called “flor de mariposa” and used in bridal bouquets.

It helps to effectively protect fibroblasts exposed to oxidative stress (H₂O₂) and significantly promotes the synthesis of type I collagen, confirming its age-defying action. In addition, this extract promotes the expression of the filaggrin gene by keratinocytes, underlining its hydrating effect.

Our ginger lily is grown in Madagascar in accordance with organic farming principles, meaning without chemical inputs or pesticide. The plant is picked before flowering in the months of March and December. Our supplier has worked with its local partner for 60 years, building a relationship of trust marked by numerous examples of responsible development. Since 2016, Clarins has helped fund development projects such as improving access to education, fitting out a health centre and rolling out nutritional programmes in schools.
