The power of plants
The mitracarpus is a small annual plant from West Africa which grows on light, sandy soils and cultivated land. Known by local communities for its nutritive and medicinal properties, it is used to supplement livestock feed and as a treatment for skin diseases.
Skincare benefits of Organic mitracarpus extract
In cosmetics, organic mitracarpus extract helps to visibly firm skin. It also helps to stimulate collagen production and combat the effects of ageing on the skin.
Responsible sourcing
Our mitracarpus is grown in Burkina Faso in accordance with organic farming principles, without chemical inputs or pesticide. A sustainable partnership was established by Clarins through a development premium that benefits pickers. This has allowed members of the cooperative to be trained in sustainable picking techniques and see improvements to local infrastructure, such as the installation of solar panels and medical equipment.
