Native to Southeast Asia, the “silk tree” was introduced to Europe in the 18th century by an Italian botanist, who was captivated by the beauty of this delicate tree. Admired for its ornamental qualities, it rapidly spread throughout Europe and America. During the summer, it bears silky, feathery flowers earning it the name “silk tree”.
A delicate tree with feathery flowers, albizia is used by Clarins in its cosmetics for its bark, whose extract promotes skin firmness and radiance by inhibiting the deterioration of dermal fibres and protecting blood vessel walls.
The lightness of its foliage, and especially its flowers, which are reminiscent of a pink plume, earned it the nickname “silk tree”. The Turkish, who fell for its charm, brought it back from the arid lands of Asia.
