How to shampoo your hair
The Expert Ritual for a Healthy Scalp and Stronger Hair
The Clarins Application Method
Follow the 3-Step Expert Application Method below of Le Bain Fortifying Shampoo, developed with our Clarins experts and a hair therapist.
More than a shampoo, it’s a cleanser that contains panthenol and powerful plant extracts: organic white iris, mastic tree, and soapwort. Free of sulphates* and silicones, this shampoo revitalises hair fibres and helps ensure scalp health. You’ll actually notice your hair is fortified in just one week. When applied with the Clarins expert method detailed below, tests show hair is immediately softer, 1.9x fuller, 68% stronger, and 55% shinier**. Clarins Hair Therapy shampoo is also lightly scented with a signature fragrance to enhance the wellness experience.
* No sulphate surfactants
** Self-assessment by 107 women who used Le Bain shampoo 2-3 times per week for 14 days.
Routine & Dose: Lather a small amount between your hands, 2 to 3 times a week.
Step 1: Emulsify
Before wetting your hair in the shower or bath, give it a good brush with your head tilted downward. This will stimulate microcirculation on the scalp, remove dust, and smooth out any knots.
- Wet hair thoroughly.
- Squeeze some Le Bain Fortifying Shampoo into your palm.
- Emulsify the formula in your palms before applying is important because it turns into a creamy foam needed for the next steps.
- Using light pressure, distribute the foam evenly on four areas of the head: back, both sides, and top.
- Do not rub the shampoo into your hair; let the lather do the work. Gently glide your fingers along the lengths to cleanse.
- Position your hands next to each other with the sides touching and glide your fingers under the hair. Count to 5 as you firmly massage the scalp with all fingertips in circular motions.
- Do this massage on all four areas: start at the back, move to each side, and finish on top.
Step 2: Double Cleanse
Repeat the Step 1 sequence. The double cleansing method helps this shine-enhancing shampoo provide a complete treatment for your scalp and hair. The effects of cleansing twice with the airy foam lather are especially beneficial if you wash your hair frequently (every day or two days) or if your hair is very fine or thin.
Step 3: Hydro-Pressure Rinse
- Lift the roots to rinse with lukewarm water until all lather is removed.
- Activate microcirculation by gliding your fingers along the lengths
- Finish with a cold water rinse.
FAQ: How to apply Le Bain Fortifying Shampoo
Understand why our unique application method is so important.
How often should I wash my hair?
The ideal frequency for shampooing your hair is two or three times per week. This gives the scalp time to produce the natural oils your hair needs to stay hydrated and healthy.
Is double cleansing necessary with this shampoo?
The double cleansing method can be done with any shampoo, but it is especially effective with this scalp-balancing formula and foamy texture. People with thin or fine hair and those who wash their hair frequently will notice that double cleansing provides added benefits.
The massage step seems to take time, is it necessary?
The massage step in this exclusive application method is essential for activating the ingredients and delivering all their benefits. Since this shampoo focuses on the scalp, it's important to increase microcirculation and volume. While the massage may take a few extra moments the first couple times you do it, it will quickly become routine.
Is my shampooing technique important?
Your shampooing technique and shampoo formula is important. You can practise the techniques detailed above, such as gentle scalp massage and a thorough rinse, with any hair cleanser. However, the overall effect can be enhanced when paired with a volumising shampoo designed to care for the scalp while helping hair look fuller, thicker and more voluminous like Le Bain Fortifying Shampoo.
Is Le Bain Fortifying Shampoo suited for all hair types? What about colour-treated hair?
Le Bain Fortifying Shampoo is a scalp-balancing shampoo that’s free of sulphate surfactants and silicones. That means it’s formulated to respect and get results on all types and textures of hair, from straight and wavy to curly and coily. It’s even kind to hair that’s been processed and colour-treated.
Why is my scalp so important to hair care?
Your scalp is an extension of facial skin, so it requires just as much care. Since its main job is to grow and retain hair, the goal is to deliver targeted nourishment that supports the scalp’s microbiome balance. Hair-washing products and techniques determine the health of your scalp, which can affect issues like thinning, dullness, hair loss, and low growth rate. Le Bain Expert Fortifying Shampoo strengthens and stimulates hair follicles without weighing down strands. That’s why it’s an integral part of the five-step Clarins Hair Therapy line that promotes hair health through scalp care solutions.
